Highsea VII – 2010

On land and at sea – how does the climate change affect life on Greenland?

Climate change and global warming are currently heavily discussed in the media and in politics. Thus, the students of Highsea VII dealt with this topic. However, the greatest interest was to find out how life changes on land and in the sea in places that are seriously affected. Therefore, the primary focus was set on the largest island in the world – Greenland.

To answer this question the students of Highsea VII conducted and evaluated many interviews and debates in Denmark and Greenland with fishermen, shop owners, tourists, scientists, politicians and residents. In addition, museums, scientific institutions and research institutions were visited to collect historical facts for comparison. The results of this expedition were presented by the students at an
information session at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research.
